About Me

Hello! My name is Janelle Madalone. I am a undergraduate senior at Florida International University pursuing a double major in Asian Studies and International Relations with a concentration in East Asian Studies. I will be graduating in Fall 2020. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have balanced working full-time and making the commute from West Palm Beach to Miami every day. I began studying both Korean and Japanese language in my first semester. In my second semester, I was honored to be accepted into Florida International University's International Student Exchange Program. I attended Kyunghee University in Seoul, South Korea for the Spring 2019 semester. This has also allowed me to travel to Tokyo, Japan before returning to home. It was an honor to experience Korean culture and language firsthand through the International Student Exchange Program and I brought my newfound experiences with me to FIU. I became a personal Korean Language tutor and joined KLEC as a tutor in my last semester. KLEC is a Korean language tutoring club in which I help students on their journey through learning Korean and preparing to live or work in South Korea. My time in Seoul, South Korea made me fall in love with the country and I plan to return as soon as possible. Once I graduate, I will continue to self-study Korean as I prepare to take the TOPIK Korean proficiency exam. I plan to apply to graduate universities in Seoul, South Korea in Spring 2021. I also plan to attend a language university in Tokyo, Japan.
