KOREAN LANGUAGE TEACHING

In my Junior year, I became a private Korean Language tutor with the encouragement from Professor Cho. The semester following my study abroad, I met with Professor Cho's Korean I classes and she introduced me to a FIU alumni student who wanted to learn Korean to prepare her to teach English in South Korea. I met with both students on campus and prepared individual lesson plans based on their progress and areas of improvement. Teaching Korean allows me to not only help other students, but to improve and solidify my own Korean.

In my Senior year, I still privately tutored one student. However, in my last semester, the President from KLEC recognized me from visiting her Korean I class and she asked if I would be a tutor for the upcoming Korean Language Empowerment Club. KLEC's mission is to not only provide additional tutoring to students, but to improve students' Korean skills beyond the classroom and to prepare them for living and/or working in South Korea. Based on KLEC's mission, I could not say no.

Currently, I am a club member and tutor of KLEC. I tutor two amazing students on Zoom every Monday. I take pride in witnessing my students improve their speaking, writing, reading and pronunciation skills. Although I'm their tutor, I'm merely there for additional help and support and their progress is a testament to their motivation and practice.

After graduation, I will begin preparing to take the Korean Language Proficiency Exam. I will still be involved with KLEC and private tutoring. This experience has motivated my own journey with Korean and I aim to become a Professor in the future.
